Let the Fare Determine Your Destination
Most travelers have a list of countries they want to visit. I know I do. But did you know the order you visit these places can make a huge difference to your pocketbook?
One of the strategies I recommend in my book is called: The World on Sale. It is a great strategy to use when booking flights without using miles and enables you to take advantage of great fares whenever they present themselves so you can go to the places you’re most interested in at the best possible price.
Basically, you choose to travel to whichever country is on your list of must-sees that also happens to be on sale at the moment. For example, my current list of top ten countries to see is: Spain, Norway, Iceland, China, Croatia, Italy, Germany, Ireland, India, and Mongolia. This list is not in any particular order.
Now, when I peruse airfares, I pay attention to which of these destinations is on sale. A few days ago I noticed a sale to a number of destinations in Asia, so there’s a good chance I will grab a sale fare. Next time if the sale is to Germany, then that will become my next destination.
To this end, I highly recommend following: The Flight Deal. It’s a website that finds great sales to various spots so you can jump on a great deal when it presents itself rather than spending hours researching various locations for deals on your own. In other words, let The Flight Deal do the work for you and then reap the benefits!
In future posts, I will talk about other tools to use (ITA Matrix, FareCompare, etc…) so you have multiple options of finding great deals on paid flights. This is just a quick passive option for those of you who don’t have time to do tons of searches but are itching to take that awesome trip as soon as possible.
Just wanted to get this out there so you could add The Flight Deal to your bag of tricks.
Have you used The Flight Deal before? –Or come across other great websites like this? Please let me know in the comments below.
